DE-US.net delegations at smart city conferences and stakeholder events
DE-US.net partners from Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, German Environment Agency (UBA) and the SME StadtLand presented the growing network of innovators for more sustainable cities and regions in Malaysia and the USA in early October 2017.
Stephan Bartke (UFZ, UBA) took part in Smart Cities Asia 2017. This rather technology focused event took place in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, October 2-3, 2017 - http://www.smartcitiesasia.com/conference/ - where Stephan could engage in several meetings at the expo at the booth of the Research in Germany campaign by BMBF "Building the City if tomorrow" Stephan also hosted an intense interactive discussion session on "Sustainability, Environment & Climate Change" attended by several municipalities and SMEs. As a communication highlight, the Malaysian Astro Awani TV interviewed Stephan and Dirk Schwede from the GENIUS network.
DE-US.net focuses on the collaboration with the US. Therefore, a larger delegation of partners visited Washington D.C. As part of the BMBF campaign, Stephan, Reimund Schwarze (UFZ), Detlef Grimski (UBA) and Uwe Ferber (StadtLand U.G.) presented the network at the Smart Cities Week conference a the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, October 3-5, 2017 - http://smartcitiesweek.com/2017-Washington/ - Reimund Schwarze contributed to a well-received panel discussion on Smart Cities Tackle Climate Resilience. Stephan introduced the campaign in a CBS/TechRepublic interview available at http://tek.io/2xWUS8Z - All DE-US.net partners enjoyed great meetings with representatives of the US EPA at Ronald Reagan Building next White House, with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and with NIST.
